European Film Festival of Atlanta 2023 | Three Francophone film screenings

Alliance Française, Goethe-Zentrum, and no less than 20 European countries are proud to present the second edition of the European Film Festival of Atlanta.
Join them May 12th through 14th, 2023 at Plaza Atlanta for three days of vibrant and engaging cinema, showcasing the colorful variety of European on-screen storytelling while exploring the many expressions of European Identity. 
During this Festival, 3 Francophone films will be screened in French with English subtitles:

FRANCE - Saint Omer (2022) by Alice Diop, 05/13 at 6PM

SYNOPSIS:
Saint Omer court of law. Young novelist Rama attends the trial of Laurence Coly, a young woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter by abandoning her to the rising tide on a beach in northern France. But as the trial continues, the words of the accused and witness testimonies will shake Rama’s convictions and call into question our own judgement.

BELGIUM - Close (2022) by Lukas Dhont, 05/14 at 4:30PM

SYNOPSIS:
Leo and Remi are two thirteen-year-old best friends, whose seemingly unbreakable bond is suddenly, tragically torn apart. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Lukas Dhont's second film is an emotionally transformative and unforgettable portrait of the intersection of friendship and love, identity and independence, and heartbreak and healing.

SWITZERLAND - Last Dance (2022) by Delphine Lehericey, 05/14 at 7PM

SYNOPSIS:
At the age of 75, Germain, a contemplative and homely man, finds himself a widower and is trying to cope with his children's invasive anxiety. True to a promise he made to his wife years ago, he is going to have to take his place in a contemporary dance performance, in secret from his family.
